Interested in becoming a Safety Steward
at the country’s premier cycling venue?
Then read on…
The Manchester Velodrome - the National Cycling Centre - home of the most successful track cycling nation in the world in recent years, is the venue for the country’s most prestigious track cycling events, the exciting Revolution track series, drawing the best riders of the cycling world, and the host venue for the U.C.I. World Track Championships in March 2008. As well as this, it regularly hosts the National Track Cycling Championships, the Paralympic World Cup (Basketball and Cycling), National Badminton Championships and many other events.
The venue has a requirement for mature people (18+) to join the in-house team of stewarding staff for events. Being a dedicated in-house group, our stewards are able to provide a level of stewarding that has a genuine, friendly, team spirit that comes across well to the public. The positions and responsibilities cover a wide range of safety aspects, public awareness & pro-active assistance.
Unlike larger facilities, such as football stadia etc., there are normally only 12 to 15 days per year when a full complement of stewards (34) is required. More often than not only a small crew is usually required. For this reason it may suit those who would like to work in this type of arena scenario but not be able to dedicate themselves to a regular weekly or fortnightly commitment.
